Guide for our Day of Prayer

We have designated Monday, August 10 to be a day of prayer -- to encourage each other to pray for our community, our friends and family, and the church throughout the world.

There are many ways to pray: using objects like prayer shawls or holding crosses, using music, or using a practice like kneeling or fasting which help us reflect and stay focused.

Or your life may be busy and overwhelming, and you might try snatching prayers in bits throughout the day as you are able.

Prayer Guide from Cheryl:

Music:

“Again, truly l tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my a Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am l with them.” Matthew 18:19,20

Pray for our country

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen for His own inheritance.” Psalms 33:12

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness, this is good and pleases God our Savior.” 1 Timothy 2:1-3

“When l shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, l command the locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then l will hear from heaven, and l will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:13-14

Pray for all people touched by the Covid virus

The sick, their families and friends, those who have lost people they love, the caregivers, those who lost jobs, schoolchildren, the isolation and disruption of life, those totally alone with quarantine, correct medical information, research for a vaccine, ample tests with quick, accurate results

“Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be afraid, for the Lord, your God, it is He that goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

“So do not fear, for l am with you, do not be dismayed, for l am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; l will uphold you with my righteous right hand .” Isaiah 41:10

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and l will give you rest .” Matthew 11:28

Pray for yourself, family, friends, our Imagine Jesus group

“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” Ephesians 6:18

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Jesus Christ .” Philippians 4:6,7

“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives. “. Colossians 1:9

Pray for Christ’s Church

Christians throughout the world, persecution, faith to be strengthened, perseverance, steadfast leadership, spiritual needs met, a place of hope and healing, bold witnessing, God’s encouragement and blessings

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect ,”. 1 Peter 3:15

“The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:37,38

“And l also say that you are Peter, and on this rock l will build my church, and the forces of Hades will not overpower it.” Matthew 16:18

“Devote yourself to prayer, being watchful to be thankful .” Colossians 4:2

We must pray with the faith of Abraham that God keeps His promises, and the wisdom of Daniel that can move heaven. On our part prayer involves time, energy, attitude, sacrifice, commitment.

“Then you will call on me and come to me, and l will listen to you.” Jeremiah 29:12
