Creative Expressions of Worship - the Nativity

Connie shared this beautiful painting she created, to hang above a favorite nativity scene:

If you have art, needlepoint, poems, or prayers inspired by scripture that you have created, please share it with us and we will add it to the blog!

Lesson 2 - Places of Worship

In this lesson we are encouraged to think about places where we worship, which may look different today than it did a few months ago.

This is a picture of First Presbyterian, Winston Salem, decorated for Christmas.

Remember to send in your pictures of places where you used to worship, or how you are worshiping now for this week's slideshow. You can also comment on this post with the church you usually attend.

Week 2 Slideshow and Discussion Links

Lesson 2 Group Discussion Outline

Here are the links and resources that we used in the discussion group. Use the comments section to talk about anything that you learned from the lesson or was meaningful to you, especially if you didn't have the chance to share it with the group!

Here is the slideshow with some of your favorite Christmas memories, decorations, and traditions!

Slides from the Tour of Bethlehem:

Below, in the comments, share with the group anything that stuck out to you or anything you may have learned, for example:

B. 3. What does the timing of Jesus’ birth say about God’s sovereignty over time and human history?

C. 4. Jesus’ pledge as He left our world after the resurrection was that He would be with us always. Considering how He made His entrance the first time, how do you think you might recognize His presence today?

D. 1. Pick a small number of verses from one of the birth narratives and write them in your journal. Use your time today to read aloud the verses you have chosen. Then sit for a few minutes in silence. Prayerfully listen for what God may be saying to you.

E. 1. What did you learn that you did not know?

E. 5. Write out an application or prayer request from these passages that you sense you are to share with your group.
